What is the treatment?

The treatment for coeliac disease is a gluten-free diet for life. When a gluten-free diet is strictly followed, the damage to the gut is repaired and for many, the symptoms disappear.  A gluten-free diet requires avoidance of all sources of gluten in the diet. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. A gluten-free diet should only be followed under medical
supervision.

Advice on Oats

Most people with coeliac disease following a strict gluten-free diet can eat ‘pure’ uncontaminated oats. Please discuss with your healthcare professional before including oats in your gluten-free diet.
